'06 2.0 petrol ~ Water trickle on carpet - happytorque
Just noticed a small trickle of water running along the footwell carpet of my 1 year old C5. Its only a very small amount of water and its coming out of the centre colsole right down low at the very back where the base of the facia meets the floor and the scuttle panel. Its running towards the drivers footwell area, down by the brake pedal. I suspect the heater matrix, but as the car is only 1 year old (10k) i would find that surprising.
There are no leaves blocking the drains below the windscreen and the drain holes are clear. Any ideas what its likely to be please?

It could be the condensate from the air con. Just as simple as the drain pipe coming off. Does the water smell? Does it feel greasy?

C5 coolant is colourless and doesn't smell much but feels greasy.

It's one for the dealer. I'd keep the revs down and avoid using the air conditioning to be on the safe side.

I'd agree with the above. It may be one of the drain holes is blovked and requires un blocking. If so, the dash will have to come out and that is an irksome job. I'd advise a trip to your usual garage in the New Year.

The liquid doesnt seem to be greasy and its got no smell as far as I can tell.
Will be down to the Citroen Center of Excellence in the morning then.

Dash out and back in again should be a nice messy job. I doubt it will go back the same as it is now; so that will be at least seven new rattle noises to go with the current chorus of creaks and groans that the thing already makes just now. Something to look forward to!

Just a quick update; the trail of water has virtually dried up overnight. Been for a drive this morning and nothing new has appeared at all. I did have the car booked in at the dealers for two days time so they could take a look, but as the evidence is now fast disappearing, it didnt seem fair to ask them to trace a leak that was no longer visible. Cant think what it could be.

If the weather is warm enough for the aircon to cut in it may be worth running it to see if the water reappears, then if it does you can reproduce the fault at the dealers.

That's almost certainly the air con drain pipe either not connected or become disconnected-probably the former.Happened on my 53 Picasso hdi and took the garage 20 minutes to fix.Incidentally the only thing in 46000 miles to go wrong-not even changed a bulb in the car!!

Cheers Derek....didnt fancy having the dash torn out.
No water present today once again.
I will keep an eye on it for the moment and let them have a look if it comes back.

Just use your air con for a couple of days and see if the trickle returns. That should then be pretty conclusive

The thing is, I havent used the air con for about 3 weeks. I will run it tomorrow and see what happens.
