96, 1.6Misfiring - coil packs? - fordprefect
Stepson's 90K mile 1.6 petrol Megane sounds as if it is running on only 2 cylinders, which seems likely to be due to a dodgy coil pack. (He drove it downhill to our house, not surprisingly it won't drive back up the hill to the local indie's garage)

Are these a dealer only item and is a new coilpack a straightforward fix? ( i.e no need to reset ECU? )

yep very common. If yours has the twin coils rather than 4 you need to check plugs & leads as one plug shorted will knock out two cylinders!. Iether type piece of cake
