As my S40 seems to go through just so many headlight bulbs, is there a way or cheat to disable the daytime running lights thing?
Could it be as simple as pulling a fuse?
Thanks if you can help.

A google search found this.
1. Put light switch to headlamps.
2. Switch ignition to pos. 2.
3. Pull High beam lever towards you.
4. Turn light switch Off.
5. Switch off Light switch.

It does however seem to be age specific as to whether you can or not, as is mentioned in the above post.

Yep that trick is age specific. Later cars you will have to ask the dealer to switch them off for you, at a cost of course.

My almost 10 year old (115,000 miles) V40 has never blown a headlight bulb (and, no, I have not deactivated the daylight running function!). If you are going through yours rapidly then maybe something else is causing the problem...?

When I had a V40 it went through light bulbs like they were going out of fasion(even with day light running off - as described above). Then I tried light bulbs from the Volvo dealer and were to my suprise cheaper than Halford ect and lasted considerably longer.
