Hi,
I am getting a new car next month and under it's current configuration, I can't link my Ipod to it. (Other than the 'Aux in' which isn't what I'm looking for)
The car is a Ford S-Max Titanium and comes with a Ford 6006 6CD unit. In my current BMW I have a Dension Ice Link that lets me use my Ipod connected to the stereo and have full use of the steering wheel controls.
That is what I'm looking for - my Ipod controlled by the steering wheel controls and permantely connected to my stereo.
Dension (or similar) don't make a unit for the Ford 6006 unit but they do make one for the 6000 unit (only difference is single CD I think). So an option I think is to 'downgrade' to a Ford 6000 unit and then get a Dension link.
My only problem with that is that a lot of people say that the 6000 or 6006 unit's aren't that great.
If I was to get an aftermarket unit, what would you recommend? It neeeds to be double DIN to fill the hole in my dashboard and preferably silver in colour. It must also be able to be connected to the Ford's steering wheel controls. Is this possible?
Any help most appreciated.

Your S-Max will come with the Sony 6CD unit and improved speakers - I have this setup in my Mondeo and the sound quality is very good for OEM kit, a long ride in a new Passat yesterday reminded me how good it is.
There are a couple of types of 6000CD units - the older ones had the large removable button panel and the newer ones have a large central volume control wheel. Although they share the same model number they are completely different units and use different connectors - your S-Max will have Quadlok connectors. Looking a Denisons web site, it looks like their products are only compatible with pre 2003 units when the connectors went over to Quadlok.
Also be aware Ford stereos aren't double DIN, they are something like DIN and a half. Your only option would be to fit a single DIN unit and a blanking plate which will look a bit naff.

Hi thanks for your help but this info you have given is not what I have been told from other sources. I have been told that it is not a Sony unit, that unit is only fitted in European S-max's. I have also been told that this steroe in the S-Max is a true double DIN, not the 1 1/2 DIN's that Ford have fitted previously.
Any help most welcome.
