How difficult is it to upgrade car audio ? Not the unit itself so much, but rather the speakers, and in the case of my Octavia, running extra wires to the rear for the speakers (seem to be some mount points under the rear parcel-shelf). The speaker driver-units in my Octavia must have cost about 50p by the sound of them - rather tinny ! I can source the drive-units easily enough from Dynaudio - presumably just a question of getting units of the same diameter ....

Did this in a Cit BX estate about 10 yrs ago with OEM rear speakers to pre existing cut outs in the boot trim. May be more trouble, eg matching mounting slots if using generic (non OEM)stuff. Not difficult but quite time consuming, mostly removing side trimming in boot to access fittings. Getting arms under carpets etc to conceal the wiring runs was a budle of fun as well!
Have you removed the radio from the fascia and checked the wiring loom? If you're very lucky Skoda may have fitted the extra wires and just tucked them out of the way.

Check out the pioneer web site. ON there you will fond a PDF file of speaker locations and what pioneer units will fit right in.

Arnold - it may be worth your while signing up to www.briskoda.net and asking the question there - I seem to remember it is an often asked question, and I'm sure there was a 'sticky' thread on the subject, but I couldn't find it when I looked just now.
give it a whirl - you may have to persevere to find your way around the place, but there's nothing to stop you asking the question in the Octavia forum

I would have a look at caraudiodirect.com, they have a lot of adapters and advice on how to do some of this stuff...

thanks guys - will have a look at briskoda too - although I'm thinking of putting in some proper hi-fi grade speaker units, instead of those nasty full-range jobbies that normally get lumped in !

Well you should get a range of opinions and advive at briskoda - there are some very technically minded people about, as well as plenty who have 'pimped their ride'
