I am looking to buy a new Golf 2.0 GTI in metallic paint and
have found that www.drivethedeal.com are offering this car at £1044 cheaper than
the local dealer. They have told me it is not an import and comes with 3
years manufacturers warranty. Could I have your comments please?

Patricia, sorry to be dim, but whose comments are you seeking? Honest John's?

No, has anyone dealt with or would recommend www.drivethedeal.com to buy a brand new car?Martyn, Back Room moderator wrote:

Also try Carpricecheck.com.

And then go back to your local dealer and tell them to match the price.

I did this last year for my wife's GT TDI PD, and for my own Ka Collection.

As far as I am aware, both Carpricecheck and Drivethedeal offer UK-supplied cars and are therefore covered by the full available warrantees.

My company (www.hispecgolfs.co.uk) can get you a new 2litre GTI with metallic paint and winter pack for approx 3K less than your local dealer. This price includes a 2yr pan European warranty.

Doesn't sound ever so cheap, but it is a UK dealer supplied one (presumably) and you wouldn't expect that to be as cheap as an import which will have 2 year warranty and a touch more inconvenience attached. Nothing wrong with an import if it's got the spec. and the paperwork.
