Can you recommend a car to replace our Vauxhall Meriva?

Can you recommend a car to replace our Vauxhall Meriva? We need a petrol automatic with easy access for octogenarians. Our budget is only about £8000. Reliability is a must and a "proper" auto box plus cheap tax and insurance.

It sounds like a Honda Jazz would be ideal, but your budget will get you one from around 2013 and that will have a CVT automatic gearbox. Instead look at a Kia Venga which is available with a four-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
