Driving with international driver - C2C79
My mate drove my car to the airport today as he is leaving the UK (he is driving on international driving license and insure to drive my car) I was in the passenger sit and he was flashed by the camera twice while passing a junction in Bristol just when the light changed. Will this affect my provisional license as the car is registered to me and insured in my name (I am still driving with my international American license) I don't mind paying his fine as It will end up in my mailbox but I am worry about my provisional.

All down to who was driving. If he was insured on your car and legally entitled to drive it you have no worries.

Neither has he, for that matter, unless he returns to the UK in the near future.

This is all starting to sound rather fishy now. I assume this is linked to the other red light question.

Just remember the penalties for perverting the course of justice are rather worse than three points.

If he were not insured then you'd be guilty of the offence of causing or permitting him to drive uninsured.

To be insured, he'd have to be a named driver, or you'd have to have an any driver policy as his own internatinal policy is unlikely to cover him driving your car "overseas" and even if it did, his international policy would have to comply with the requirements of Part VI of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

This is viewed as seriously be the Courts and Crown Prosecution Service as driving uninsured, if you want to go down that route even if they can't prove perverting the course of justice, i.e., they have to accept that he was driving.

Driving with international driver - Dwight Van Driver
1.RL camera takes photos of offence of failing to conform to traffic sign.
2.From photo Reg No noted.
3.Enquiry of DVLA for Reg Keeper (YOU)
4.Sent out to Reg Keeper and to be received before last post on 15th day a NOIP (outside this time invalid). With paperwork will be a request to name driver. This has to be done within 28days otherwise offence.
5.You name your American friend with address in US of A and return the form.
6.You have complied with the law. It is up to them what they do re your friend (which is little they can do.)
7.They may however come back to you to query the Insurance aspect of your car by an other driver.
8.You say he was insured. You prove this to them.
