My car is rear wheel drive and has doen 15,000 miles. The rear tyres have plenty of tread, the front offside is ok but the nearside outer half is almost warn to the marker. I notice quite a few cars seem to have this sort of wear pattern Would having the tracking checked help this or is is normal?
thanks

Alan,
We've chatted about this before, the "Milton Keynes Syndrome".
Roundabouts!

Alan, this often happens. The nearside front wears faster because of a very often poorer surface at the edge of the road and if a car is used a lot in an area with lots of roundabouts, like oxford. Good idea to check wheel alignment etc. Make sure the garage uses a steering wheel clamp while they do the necessary and perhaps check in your handbook for correct settings.

You don't provide sufficient information to form a view. If the front offside has double the tread or more on its outer edge compared with the nearside, a combination of road conditions and front wheel alignment would be the likely suspects to cause this.
