My 7 year old son, who is totally and utterly obsessed with MINIs, has asked me the following.

With the headlights in the bonnet, if you open the bonnet do they still work ie do they point to the sky?

Its obviously important to him to find out, don't shoot the messenger!

Any takers?

I think he's pointing out the rubber band that drives it!

Dunno, but I do know that the 'interesting' looking one-off Morgan Aero 8 fastback coupe has new Mini headlights in place of the standard cross-eyed ones. Still no beauty though!

Mini Headlights - escort man

surely the lights get knocked out of line everytime the bonet is slammed shut?
Mini Headlights - philipb
Not if they are Xenons and self-levelling - part of the Chilli pack that is derigeur on the MINI Cooper S.

I gather that the Mk II MINI due out in 2007 will have a more conventional headlight arrangement as BMW want to save on build costs.

No one has answered my original query yet?????? Do the lights stay on when you lift the bonnet?
Mini Headlights - Altarf
Yes they stay on.

A potential use is demonstrated in the unauthorised MINI manual.

Any info available yet on MINI MK II? Is it gonna be a radical departure from what we're used to? From the little I've heard so far I think the MK I sounds better.

Oh dear not another Series 1 story....
SWMBO promised to check her MINI when she got back from some bean counting mission yesterday but got diverted by a rather cheeky bottle of (Spar) Wine

Not much - We're already at MINI 1.5 if you consider the facelift that brought about the revised interior, amended front and back bumpers.

www.mini2.com is an excellent place to find the latest (news section is pretty good, but there is a thread on new models in the forum)

Last I saw were some mock ups for the new interior, but there's so many of them about now they'll have to come up with something better than ads with naked blokes and fish in them to keep the strong sales going.

(I was thinking of the car scarer when I read this thread, good link there!). Worth a read if you can get hold of the unauthorized (american) MINI manual, good stuff.
