Citroen AX steering

Citroen AX steering - cabsmanuk
I?ve just taken over a 1996 Citroen AX (petrol) owned by my mother for the last 4 years. The car is OK but the steering is incredibly heavy. So far all I?ve done is to check the tyre preasures and note that there?s no uneven wear. Do these small light cars without power steering have heavy steering as normal? As far as I know it?s never had an accident.

My mate has a Polo without PAS and it drives like a tank at slow speeds.

I have an AX autograss car,and the steering on that is heavy,even tough the shell has been lightened for racing purposes.

And if you think your steering is heavy,try driving it with a welded diff.
