Ive just undertook one of the worst jobs ive ever done on a car.. the heater matrix. The old one was leaking in the footwell, so i got hold of one of ebay for £40 all in and went with the Haynes method. Word of advice to anyone who doesnt already know this: if you are doing any job more involved than changing the cam belt, leave the haynes well alone. It was so vague its unbelievable and as for putting it all back together, you cant beat the old classic: "refitting is the reverse of removal" ... ahh, words of wisdom. Anyway, I came accross problems at all stages due to the lack of info in the haynes and once the dash was refitted, i found that the air distribution lever refused to move at all.
Has anyone got any ideas other than take the dash off again? Im gonna test the cable whilst watching the flaps for unhindered travel after ive checked whether the wires are also unhindered.
Only other thing i can think of is that i may have possibly put the cable clips back on too tight which may be stopping the wire within from travelling?
Nasty job, avoid if possible.

Sorry to hear your plight! Did the same job just over a year ago, without the aid of a manual - it was still a pig of a job. However, everything worked fine afterwards! As I recall, straight run from back of controls to the heater flaps, so nothing to go wrong there. Suggest loosen heater control panel first for any obvious signs, and if a good contortionist, try and check the other end without taking it all apart.( The ability to hang upside down, face up, holding the head restraint with your toes helps)I hope you find the problem easilly!
