Peugeot 308 SW - Central locking & headlight problems - Kierston

Hello

First post in search of advice please

I removed and replace d a fuse to see if it was blown(rear window heater not working). Now however the central locking has stopped working as have the headlights

Any thoughts about why this has happened? Obviously I'm not a mechanic but I thought this sort of thing would be easy to fix....

If you've been in the fuse box you may just have disturbed another fuse?

Rear window heaters or anything at the rear of a Peugeot can suffer from poor earth connections, which may be the real problem - unless you have fixed the heater?

It probably is 'easy to fix', but tricky to diagnose .... :-)

Thanks for your response

Heater still not working, I'm just adding further problems...

The fuses are difficult to reach so yes might have disturbed another one

How do I find the earth connection for the rear? Struggling to get the panels round the rear screen off.

Will go and try again

Are you sure that you have all the correct fuse locations occupied? There are usually spare locations that are not used. Also has the car gone into economy mode.? A lot of functions will not work unless the engine is running.

Thanks again for the help. I went back to the box with a good torch and I had put the fuses in the wrong bits - did it by touch not sight previously

So now working again. Except for the rear window defroster.

Any advice on this - I've checked the grid and can't see any breaks in the metal . Undone the bolts on the plastic panels but can't shift them to see if it's become disconnected

Don't know the 308SW, but my 207SW (much the same age) has a poor screen-heater mounted in a lifting hatch. All the other electrics at the rear are fine, so I suspect a fault in the wiring which has to flex when the hatch is opened, tho I paid an auto-electrics specialist £70 a few years ago to be told that it was OK.

I believe the fault-prone earth connection is in the nearside lamp cluster, but don't quote me. Gibbo_Wirral will know better.

Thanks. I'll have another crack at it. And leave the fuses well alone

Could there be a relay in the system? I'd imagine its a very high current circuit to not have one.

Might be easier to switch it on and use a multimeter to check voltage on rear screen - check on positive feed in and earth on boot lid and this will tell you if power is getting there.
