ORB i'm surprised your friend completed the purchase following the attitude over the brake items in part 1.

If they're baulking umming and ahhing before they've got their sweaty mitts on the loot what would a reasonable man expect them to be like once it's in the bank and the sales bod has moved on to new victims, sorry, targets.

This is a "Prestige" Jaguar Dealers not a million miles from the M42...

Salesman admitted he had never had a Jaguar, The "payment" was "lost" till they realised that it had been credited to his "account"..

Nevr mind, he can always give them 3 tries to fix it and don't forget that ears are going to be bent in high places.

I must admit that I pointed out to him the prob;ems concerning corroded tyre pressure monitoring systems..

My opinion is that as the battery is very hot, it is defective, the switch can be replaced and the tyre pressure monitoring system replaced as well as the faulty sensors.

And me buy a used jaguar even with 2 years jaguar warranty remaing.... Not on your ....

On the assumption that this is a Jaguar Approved car, look up the conditions on the jag web site (sorry no link allowed). Your friend has 30 days or 1000 miles to return the car and get a full refund. If the dealer does not sort the problems out, this is what they should do.

We CAN post links here. It's not banned at all. However, particular type of link are ...less welcome ... I sduppose you would say

Here's the link to the Jaguar 1000 mile / 30 day refund page, for example ...

www.jaguar.co.uk/quality-section/approved-used/app...l

(waits for Avant to delete the link and send the hit squad round to my house...)

However, it isn't quite as simple as that (the Jaguar bit, not the hit squad)...

In the unlikely event that your vehicle has a demonstrable fault that cannot be resolved to your satisfaction, within the first 30 days and the car has covered no more than 1,000 miles from the date of purchase, your car will be replaced free of charge with a car of a similar specification or a refund will be offered.

Well that seems pretty clear Rob. But would you buy a used Jag?

They are not cheap and not reliable either by some accounts. Shame thought lovely looking car.

Cheers Concrete

This is his 3rd used jaguar..

Ist S type written off when T-boned at a mini roundabout,, was otherwise happy with it, Generally used as "wifes" car, as had a company car.

Bought himself a nearly new S-type 4.2 supercharged soon after they stopped making them.. Generally happy, when the Ist one was written off bought a TT for wife...

Keeps S type for weekend car,

Has now bought XF 3 litre diesel with all the bells and whistles as has disposed of company car due to BIK costs.

Dealer has today agreed to fix all issues and has loaned another car while this is being done.

And no, I still don't want one.

How times change eh, ORB. Remember this post?

"Pleased to read all these years after i stopped working for them that jag have a car that is desirable a, used and b. more than 3 years old. In my day would not have touched any of them not under warranty!"

I've had my XF for more than five years now and see no reason to get rid of it.

It's OK, Rob - we're not neurotic about links on here: indeed HJ has posted some himself to help someone asking for advice. The only ones we don;t want to encourage are those which cover the same or similar ground to our own website, such as those of motoring magazines.

The one you posted is fine.
