CITROEN C3 PURETECH 999CC 3 CYLINDER - RATTLING FROM ENGINE? - KEN78

ONLY DONE 1200 MILES FROM NEW IN APRIL 2015. THERE IS A RATTLING/GURGLING SOUND ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED SLIGHTLY WHEN IN 3, 4 ? 5TH GEARS. TWO MAIN DEALERS HAVE GIVEN FOLLOWING DIAGNOSIS (1) NOISE IS FROM TIMING CHAIN. NO PROBLEM. (2) NOISE IS AN INDUCTION NOISE. NO PROBLEM.

COULD YOU PLEASE HELP DRIVING WIFE AND I SCATTY.

Does a similar car with similar milage display the same issues?

If no then there may be some problem?

3-cylinder engines do make a highly characteristic sound, but is yours making a rattle, or a gurgle?

If it's a gurgle, that is typical of the 3-cylinder, 120-degree crank throw configuration. If it's a rattle, something is probably loose or it might be pinking, but I'd be surprised if it was pinking, as modern engines really shouldn't.

You've taken it into a dealer, and they say there is nothing wrong with it.

The car has a 3 year warranty from new. If it breaks, Citroen will fix it. Crack on and enjoy driving it.
