brake light failure - dom grimes
I have a saab 9-5 estate which is a fine car except for a constant warning light saying "brake light failure" every time I turn the ignition on and touch the brake peddle to take the gear out of park. All the lights are working its just the warning light coming on.Local dealer has changed all the bulb and the high level light but no joy. Its going back in on Wed for another look. Any answers?

Does your message say brake light failure or " Check brake lights". Does the warnig go out once you have pressed the break pedal? if so this is normal. hope this helps

message says "brake light failure". It only goes out if I press the clear button on the display. It only ever happens when I switch the ignition on. There must be a drop in voyage somewhere or an earthing problem, but its got me and local saab dealer stumped.

Have you tried pressing and holding the clear button until you get a beep (say 20 secs or so)

I have a 9-5 estate with the same problem very annoying, my warning light does not always come on at the start, sometimes after a few minutes or longer periods but the only way I can reset is to switch off ignition and wait for the next failure.
