Changed the coolant in my Golf Tdi but may have an issue???? - Roy Brown

I flushed out the coolant system and replaced the coolant in my TDi Golf the other day. I drove the car today for a while, there was plenty of heat from my heater system but then it suddenly went 'cold'. The temperature hand did not rise above 90 degrees. When I opened the header tank (which seem to relieve some pressure) after driving it the coolant went from the normal mark to the very top of the bottle. My water pump was replaced 2 years ago (max)

My top radiator hose was quite hot while the bottom hose was cold-ish (which I gather is normal in temperatures around 8 degrees) Is this a normal experience when the coolant has been replaced? Has anyone ever experienced this problem or similar before?

All help appreciated, thanks

Airlock, run the engine without the coolant cap with the heater full on until all the air is removed..
