Ford Fiesta Saloon - Intermittent Rev Drop - fredthefifth

This is on a 2004 1.4i Ford Fiesta Zetec

Noticed that when the aircon is on the revs drop every 20 secs or so. At the same time as the rev drop the radiator fan kicks in and though it’s hard to tell with the rad fan kicking I suspect I hear another clunk at the same time - maybe the aircon pump engaging?

Does all sound ok? It’s my daughters cars and she’s worried that its going to stall or symptomatic of something going wrong.

When the a/c is switched on ,the cooling fan will run and then the a/c pump will cut in and out as reqd.This is normal operation but does put extra load on the engine which the engine control system will try to compensate.hth
