Any - Slow puncture - leaking at beading - Surreydriver

When I asked what had been found after the repair at the tyre centre, they stated it had been leaking at the beading. First time I've heard of this - both bikes and cars on tubeless tyres in more than 50 years on the road. I recall hitting a big pothole recently on a very badly lit road and assume it was this that caused the leak. Lucky I have "old fashioned" 45 section tyres or it could have been a broken wheel.

If your car has alloy wheels - most do these days - gradual surface corrosion is common at the tyre bead. It is also common for fitters of new tyres (or replacers of repaired ones) to clean off this corrosion to stop any leaks.

It does have alloys. Thanks for the info.

I've had it happen with a steel wheel. They tried to clean the rim up, and use sealant but eventually fitted an inner tube.

Just had this with Mrs BJ's Panda when we had 4 new Goodyear Vector All Season tyres fitted. After a while I took it back and they checked where it was leaking - I won't mention the National chain but basically the wrong type of weights had been applied on the inner edge of the alloy rim causing a slight weep. They cleaned up the rim applied a sealing substance and re balanced properly. All good now.
