Battery 6 months old

Cam belt done at 150,000

Knowing your top budget would be useful.

Buying a diesel to do such low miles really not a good idea. A, diesels need longer runs to work properly and B, if something goes wrong it will cost a lot more to fix than a naturally aspirated petrol.

What is your budget?.

None of the above choices are good at all.

Give a budget and a location and someone can make a sensible suggesttion for you,

Well budget as long as car runs lol

I'm a guy that a car gets you from a to b

I can do quite a few repair jobs so not overally bothered

a lot of autos suffer trans issues which is a big issue

budget would be £4000-5000 but anything to start with

i live in the the isle of wight so only a smallish place

Parents have a diesel berlingo but it depends on what the market has

with shortages and being an auto prices are crazy compared to what they normally would be

i'm a £50 car guy lol

Apparently Gumtree is a good place to look for cheaper cars, but I can't really be bothered. Pretty easy on Autotrader to look at cars from different areas, just enter a local postcode (in this case, Morrisons in Newport). Because of your location, I have taken the liberty of including cars that are not an MPV (but are at least reasonably practical), but these are some I'd be keen to have a closer look at (these are all within 20 miles, though presumably most are on the mainland)

*Being a JDM import, I suspect the listed mileage is actually in KM, which would make the mileage 97k. Wilfully odd looking car (I like them!), but massively practical. Just be aware that the centre rear seatbelt is a lap belt rather than 3 point.

Possibly.being a little dense here - why exclude MPVs? I was thinking big, unfashionable and relatively thirsty would be ideal in this situation. I was going to suggest Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan/Seat Alhambra.

An old Jeep Cherokee could be a fun option (big and basic)...

I think the Focus (ends 17178) looks a good shout. I can't help but notice on Autotrader than someone in Sandown has an old-school VW Scirocco for sale....

I haven't excluded MPV's (I'm not responsible for the lack of them for sale locally to the OP within his budget) I was just including other types aswell because the OP appears not to want to travel too far. Getting a poor MPV locally is, IMO, a worse option than getting a nice 'non MPV' either locally or slightly further afield. But if the OP did ant to travel further, there would of course be more chance of getting a smaller petrol MPV like a C Max.

You are entitled to make your own suggestions, but as the OP will be only be doing 5k miles per year, diesel is not a good idea. Also, as the OP was looking at a Kangoo and Quobo (both of which are 5 seaters), he clearly doesn't need 7. By far the majority of large MPV's at this budget will be diesel and there were none at all (petrol or diesel) within the 20 miles I looked.

Yes, I did notice that!
