Hi all,

My car has had an intermittent squeak from the passenger side front for a while, I had thought it would have been caught in the MOT/Service; but having had it back for a week now the squeak still occurs.

It is intermittent, but seems to be linked to the brakes - no squeak when actually breaking, but when driving off afterwards, also tends to happen more at slower speeds.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Check the anti roll bar bushes. They dry out and squeak as you drive. Not serious but highly annoying. Often a squirt of lubricant is all they need.

Double check front springs - a less obvious snap not always picked up at MOT/service but can give a squeak - usually shows up over speed bumps as well though.

Thanks - doesn't seem to matter on road surface, bumps don't impact the noise, and it'll squeak on flat straights (both setting off and sometimes when picking up speed).

This issue has resolved itself!

From an annoying occasional squeak, to a horrible grinding noise (sounded like metal on the drive but nothing had fallen off) and unhappy metal squeaks.

Think I'll hand this one over the the pros...

One of the front brake pads has worn to the metal back plate or disintegrated?

It was a stone between the brake pad and wheel.

That was it.

Oh wait, no... it still squeaks... but I'll take that over the previous noise.
