Just been shopping around for cover for an M-reg Pug 306 I am buying shortly. Intended to change vehicles on the Classic (cheap !) policy for my H-reg 205.

- brokers said no-can-do, 306 is not (yet!) a Classic, offered cover for £800, over 7 times that for the 205. Guffaws at my end of the line - went to Confuzed.com.

- 'special offer' with One Call for about £185, nothing else under £340 (LV=). Added SWMBO as named driver, premium dropped by £100. Decided to check LV= website: quote back up to £380 even with SWMBO as named driver.

- looked at D-L (which doesn't use Confuzed.com) : quote for just over £200. All this on the basis of 9+ years NCB. Luckily I still have document from D-L to prove that when I cashed in the last D-L policy a year ago.

Just another illustration of the oddities of the insurance business.
