Peugeot 308 1.6 Petrol 2008 - 308 1.6 petrol fan keeps running - Kiran G

The cooling fan keeping running long after engine is turned off - about 2 min. This started happening after depollution fault for a misfiring cylinder which i got corrected after replacing ignition coil. The drive is fine now but the ran keeps running. Also the fault came along after i regased and AC compressor replaced. The AC was on for 15 min and above symptoms were seen. Are these linked issues or separate ones?

On many models that use this engine, if an engine malfunction/depollution occurs, the cooling fan will run all the time and after engine switch off for a while. Also with the Aircon switched on , the fan will also run continuously . You will need to get into the diagnostic system to reset the issues.

thanks, i was told that the error will reset in about 5-6 runs after the misfire is fixed or does it need to be manually reset?

Unlikely to reset by itself. Needs diagnostic kit to reset system.

Early 308s suffer with this issue and its sometimes down to a blocked heater matrix.

Try a full coolant flush first, then do a BSI reset on the electrical system. Google "BSI reset" for instructions.

If that doesn't help google "Planet owners map" for fellow Pug owners with the diagnostic kit who will help.
