What are the best versions of the Peugeot 1.2 PureTech engine?
I understand the 1.2 PureTech Citroen engine is well regarded but have read reports of problems with the cam belt running in oil being unreliable. I gather it has been updated over its life and now is a chain not a belt ? Do you know when they changed to a chain or which year of belt upgrades solved the reliability issues?

The Peugeot/Citroen PureTech engine has suffered issues with cambelt degrading and failing, and as a result a number of revisions were introduced to rectify the issue. 2016-on PureTechs have a revised setup that reduces the likelihood of a belt failure and from 2022 onwards this engine was produced with a timing chain rather than a belt. Regardless of the age of the engine, a full service history is a must as missed services or the wrong grade of oil can contribute to premature wear and failure.
