Peugeot Expert 2005 - Headlamp bulb LEDs??! - stuartl

My headlights are hopeless and I am desperate to upgrade them. I have looked at LED replacements for the Halogen? lamps currently fitted but it seems that there are different types of LED lamps. Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Firstly, led headlights are currently not street legal and would not pass an mot.I would find out what buls you have fitted ,either 2-pin H7 type or 3-pin H4 type.Upgrade to Philips or Osram nightbreakers.

Great advice thanks! I thought most modern cars had LED headlights (the ones that look bluey colour from a distance) or am I getting confused with Halogen?

I bought a Landcruiser LC5 a few weeks ago, to replace my older model, the headlights are hopeless compared to the model it replaces which was fine on standard bulbs, luckily it still has good old H4 bulbs and a quick browse on amazon produced Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited at £13.20 the pair which is a bargain, arrived next day.

It was horrible driving home from work the previous week on damp salted roads which seem to vacuum any light in, i can see again now.

I had an 03 Dispatch and, yes, the headlights are dreadful! I considered changing them for candles!

Use Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited and then have them very carefully adjusted so the beam is only just below horizontal. They'll never be brilliant though. A pair of auxillary lights is the answer.

Headlights that have a blue tint are usually HiD xenons.Old technology.Lots of new cars around now with original fit led headlights, but these are a complete package, not just an led replacement bulb.www.hella.com/hella-com/en/Technology-Products-10-...l

Seeing how much some LED repleacements are, ie Jag complete headlight for failed led indicator circa £1000 i read somewhere maybe here, this trend to complete LED units is something else added to my list of things to avoid.

GB - couldn't agree more. Just ordered 4 H1 nightbreaker bulbs for my x type from ECP. Under £20 delivered using their 'black Friday' promo.

Blast it, could have saved meself 4 quid if i'd waited till the Black Friday deal, however not avoiding running into an unlit skip with the new bulbs might have been an expensive £4 saving.

:-)

H7's aren't included in the ECP sale for some reason.

This thread (and the ECP sale) came at a fortuitous time. I've noticed recently that my lights weren't as good as they were, despite having recently given the covers a good clean and polish.

It seems that the n/s dipped beam adjuster (? electric motor?) has failed, but the main beams are low as well for no apparent reason.

Car will go in to indy next week so he can change bulbs for me, set up lights (oh, and perhaps tighten a few bits here and there again to stop/lessen oil drips).
