Nissan Almera Tino - is it okay to drive with air con compressor broke? - Michael Sammon
Hi,
Took my car into Nissan today to diagnose two problems. One was the ignition coil which I'm replacing myself. The other is the air con. They said it is definitely the compressor. I can get them on ebay for 40 quid. Car is 13 years old but I like it.
I am thinking to perhaps wait to see if it gets through the MOT in November and if all okay then sort the air con, well get a professional I know to.
Question is, will driving it with this broken compressor cause further damage? Could something overheat?

Assuming that its rotational function is ok,then there is no problem driving with the pump faulty.this does not affect the regular cooling system.

As long as the pulley is released by the clutch and is free to rotate, should be ok
