I need an economical, reliable car with a warranty to replace my Volkswagen Polo. Would a Mazda 2 do the trick?

I currently own a Volkswagen Polo GTI. I have been having a few problems with it over the years and have decided its time to upgrade, as I do a lot of miles, and it's not the most economical of cars. I have about £8000 to spend, £10,000 with £2000 part-exchange on the Polo, hopefully. I want something that looks nice, drives nicely, is economical, reliable and comes with a warranty. I know there are lots of offers out there for brand new cars but I would rather buy an ex-demo model, something that is one or two years old with a bit of mileage. I have been thinking about either a SEAT Ibiza/Leon, Mazda 2 (might be too small) or 3, Honda Civic, Audio A3 or Ford Fiesta/Focus. The car must be five-door, but I'm not fussed about petrol or diesel. Also don't want something too high on the insurance, so I'm thinking 1.6 - 2-litre. What would you recommend?

A new Mazda 2 1.3TS2 is a very good idea. Huge fun to drive, relaxed on the motorway and 45mpg economy. Try www.drivethedeal.com
