Should I get a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost or 1.6 petrol Powershift?
I'm considering a new/used Ford Fiesta Powershift but my local independent garage (very experienced and trustworthy) has warned me off the 1.0 Ecoboost engine as he has seen a number of failures. He says it's Turbo charging and high output from a tiny engine makes it fragile and unreliable. My own research has revealed lots of problems with the Ecoboost engine. Should I buy the 1.6 petrol Powershift instead? Does it drive differently from the Ecoboost? I'm not bothered about mpg because of low mileage. Long-term reliability is much more important.

There's a weak plastic/nylon union in the return coolant pipe from the turbo to the expansion tank (called the 'degas' pipe) of the 1.0 EcoBoost. If that is properly replaced, no problem. But there's a problem with the Poweshift. The twin dry clutch packs fail regularly. Get a small Hyundai or a Kia or a Mazda 2 with a 4-speed torque converter auto.
