Has there been any reports of 'unintended acceleration' in new BMW?

I have recently purchased a new BMW 3 Series Touring. I have 55 years accident free driving experience, always with manual transmission, and the new car was my first automatic transmission. Two weeks ago, I had my first ever collision which I have failed to understand. I was driving slowly in city traffic when the car in front stopped. I braked in good time, but my vehicle failed to slow down. In fact it accelerated and "fish tailed" into the rear of the car ahead. The incident exactly reflected the "unintended acceleration" reports that afflicted certain Toyota and Audi in approximately 2008-10. I understand that if I had inadvertently depressed both pedals simultaneously, then the brake would have overrided and inactivated any acceleration. BMW are unlikely to admit to any fault, and I wondered if you have any experience of current "unintended acceleration" on new BMW, or whether there is a possible recall looming?

I guess that you have been trying to drive the car 'one footed' like the 82 year old woman who killed a young woman on the footway on the opposite side of the road and managed to convince a jury that her car was at fault. It wasn't. The one and only safe way to drive an automatic in congested conditions is left foot for the brake; right foot for the accelerator. Then you can stop virtually instantly if anything untoward happens. Every single case of 'unintended acceleration of automatics' has been because the driver pressed the accelerator thinking it was the brake. No exceptions. Every automatic can be stopped by the brakes if the brake pedal is properly applied. Two pedals. Two feet. No confusion.
