TPMS for replacement wheels for winter tyres

I ordered a set of winter wheels and replacement alloy wheels which were delivered to a local garage for fitting. After they were put on, I drove about 6 miles and a warning light came on indicating a tyre pressure monitor malfunction. It was only when I checked on the Internet that I realised my 2015 Ford Fiesta is fitted with a TPMS system and that this is now a regulatory requirement. On telephoning the Ford garage they told me I although I could reset the warning it would keep being triggered. They said the only solution would be to take the new tyres off their rims to fit new sensors in each of them. Do you agree?

Depends on the type of TPMS. If they are by valve pressure sensors then you need a new set for the new wheels. If they work by measuring rotational distortions (BMW, Mazda), you don't.
