PAS rack failure
August 2014 I purchased 58 plate Mondeo 2.0L TDCI 43.000 miles Plus a years warranty from a Nissan Dealer. At point of sale there was a new PS pump to be fitted by The Ford Dealership.
10 days before the expiry of the warranty the PS pump failed after 3000 miles. The Nissan Dealer put it back into the ford garage for replacement Pump. At that time I voiced my concerns That a Pump shouldn't fail after 3,000 miles and that in my opinion the steering rack was at fault, they argued it was the pump. After the new pump was fitted starting the car from cold I had to work the steering for a few minutes as it was stiff. To cut a long story short. sent back to ford who now confirmed it was the PS Rack. Which brings me to my question. My warranty has run out since the new pump was fitted and its the rack at fault. can I still claim warranty as it was still valid when the problem arose. Thanks

Forget the warranty and simply sue the Nissan dealer who supplied the car because the PAS rack was either faulty or developing the fault on the date of sale. This is actually a fairly common failure on Fords. Law you need here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
