Cold call

Just in case other people get this. Had a call to my mobile showing it was local. Because of that I answed it. a guy with a geordie accent he knew my name also, quite a worry. asked me about a collision I supposedly had had. Asked who he was and how he had my details, he said they(company called ATM he said)obtained this through a search.I have not had any collisions and the number he called from did not register in my call logs, strange eh.

Someone has illegally sold your personal details to these people. It is not illegal for them to call you. It is illegal under the Data Protection Act for them to have any personal details of an accident you may have had so you can demand a copy of all the personal details they hold on you and can report this crime to the Information Commissioner.
