Which car for a dog owner?

I have a 62 plate SEAT Exeo ST diesel with all the toys. I love it but we will shortly be getting two large rescue dogs, so need a bigger car all round (especially the boot).

I have around £4000 on top of what I could get for the Exeo, which is an ex demo with 22K miles.

I've pondered an Hyundai i40 and a Ford Mondeo, or perhaps an older Volvo V70 - what would be your advice? Could you please give some idea of what I could expect for my Exeo trade in or private sale?

A Mondeo estate and a Skoda Superb estate will give you more room but, however you protect the interior, transporting two large dogs will destroy the car and create a stench that is almost impossible to get rid of.

It might make more sense to keep the Exeo and buy a properly caged and ventilated ex police dog van (often converted from Mondeo and Focus estates) that come up at ex-police auctions at West Oxfordshire Motor Auctions in Witney (www.http://www.woma.co.uk/) and Brightwells in Leominster (www.brightwells.com).
