What's the correct pressure for a winter tyre?
I recently had four winter tyres and steel rims fitted to my B-Class by a Mercedes-Benz dealer as per their suggestion. However, I found the noise they produce to be much higher than normal tyres and much harsher to road bumps.
I checked the pressure and found them all to be 46PSI. I checked with the dealer and was told it should be the same as normal tyres - 36PSI. I spoke to the dealer principal to advise him of the error and he told me they can be anywhere between 36 to 44PSI. Is this correct?

46PSI is far too high for tyres for a normal car to be driven on the road. It will rob the car of any steering feel and could very easily lead to a loss of control. It's obvious to me that the tyres were supplied at storage pressures and the dealer did not check them before putting them on the car. This dealer's gross negligence could have killed you. For him to tell you that permissible pressures can be anything from 36PSI to 44PSI brands him as a blithering idiot who should not be running a dealership.
