Downsizing for winter tyres/wheels
Hi there,
Our (new to us) Jazz uses 185/55R16 tyres which are not too commonly found. We always change to winter tyres, but wanted to downsize for winter and buy a combination of steel wheels and 175/65R15 tyres. Would this be an acceptable size for this car? Most Jazzes seem to use 15" wheels, so am hoping it will be OK. We would really appreciate your advice.
Many thanks,
KL

Standard Jazz come on 15” steel or alloy wheels with 175/65 R15 tyres. There is no difference in the size of brake discs on EX models, so the standard wheels will fit. But an insurer will regard this as a 'modification' (even though, for winter tyres, it's a sensible one), so the change has to be disclosed. Sensible insurers will not penalise you for this, but idiot insurers do. If you use steel wheels you might need different wheel bolts.
