Winter tyres - which size?

I have a Ford Fiesta with 195/50/R16 tyres. The full size spare is 175/65/R14.

This will be a long term ownership, so I am happy if it is necessary to purchase a set of wheels for my winter tyres. If I do so, should I buy 16 or 15 inch wheels and tyres?

The winter tyres will be more effective on snow in the 15" size rather than the 16" size because that puts more tyre between the rims and the road gives the tyres more flexibility. Vredestein Wintrac currently seem to be the best.
