Recommend a small MPV for a shorter driver with good economy?

My wife and I are both age 74. I have a terminal illness which means I may not be able to drive again. The likelihood is that I will dispose of my 2006 Ford C-Max and we will replace my wife's 2004 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia (which she has had from new) with a more comfortable, but probably used, car that suits my wife, who is short, and me as a tall passenger. We have owned Fords for many years but will appreciate your suggestions, please, on which cars to consider. You have, I believe, recommended in the past the 1.25 Fiesta as providing a good and economical drive but, which other 5-door hatchbacks would you recommend? My wife drives only about 5000 miles per year, often short journeys.

The Toyota Yaris was always good for smaller people. I had a 4-foot 11-inch wife who was very happy with her Yaris-based Vios. You could also look at the Verso S, which is a small Yaris-based MPV that 'Which' subscribers nominated to be the most reliable MPV. Otherwise, Ford B-Max, Hyundai ix20, KIA Venga, or the smaller Suzuki Splash and Vauxhall Agila.
