How can my son's girlfriend prove she was not involved in an accident?

My son's girlfriend has owned her SEAT Ibiza from new, for the last four years. She has been insured with More Than for the last 2 and has 7 years NCB. Her renewal documentation arrived early in October as expected. Then, 1 week before renewal, she was sent notification from the claims department, that a third party alleged her vehicle to have been involved in an incident at 13:25 on Friday 5 October. The letter clearly assumed she was guilty, adopting the tone, "you have failed to notify us of this incident".

She had to look up the location on a map, as its some 50 or 60 miles from home and she has never driven there. Her car cannot have been there either, as it was parked near Chelsfield Rail Station from before 8am until after 6pm. No one else had access to her car. The following day, 6 October she was given a parking ticket by Bexley Council. This would prove that the front of her car was undamaged and therefore could not have been involved, as the TP claims to have been hit in the rear. On my instruction she phoned the claim company on both the 29th and 30th October to advise them this TP claim was fiction and asked them to sort it out. A week later, her renewal premium was inflated by 70 per cent and automatically direct debited twice, causing severe financial distress. What is her best course of action?

I suggested that NW’s son’s girlfriend wrote back to More Than demanding to know who has accused her of this damage because you wish to report them to the police for criminal fraud. State that you Absolutely demand the identification of this crook so that you can commence both criminal action for fraud and civil action for libel against him. Several months later, the third party solicitors withdrew their claim and More Than advised they were closing the case and refunding the increased premiums.
