Should I fit winter tyres to my Lexus IS?
I currently need to replace all four tyres on my Lexus IS and am seriously considering buying cold weather tyres. However, I will almost certainly be replacing my car next September when the current one is three years old. As far as I can see I have three choices. I can buy cold weather tyres and keep them on until I sell my car, but I am unsure what the disadvantages are of running a car in the summer on cold weather tyres. Or I can buy a set of normal tyres and forfeit the benefits of cold weather tyres in the winter. Or I can buy a set of cold weather tyres now and a set of normal tyres next April. This would obviously be very expensive and would only be a viable option if I was certain my next car had the same wheel sizes as my current one. My annual mileage is about 12,000 per annum.

The latest tests seem to favour Continental Winter Contact TS850 over tyres sold as ‘all season tyres’ for both winter and all year round use. More at www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/All-Season-Tyres-How...m
