Different opinion on first car budget
I got my full license a month ago and I'm looking for a second hand car.
My budget is £6000 including insurance (insure the box insurance is around £1600)
I like Corsa and Swift - I found some I thought was good.(08 or 09, under 40K miles, no damage, 1.2 Corsa and 1.3 Swift) but my friend recommended I start with a cheap car - £6K is too high for first car, use the cheaper car to practice then move to better car. Is my 6k budget too high, or is it too much to spend £4500 on a Corsa or Swift?

Makes some sense to start cheap. The best cheap car is a Fiesta 1.25 (NOT 1.3). Lots around. Cheap. Excellent spares availability. Fairly reliable. The biggest problem is rust.
