Is the Subaru Legacy too good to be true?
I'm on the hunt for an economical diesel estate with good performance. Is there anything that comes close to the performance/mpg/tax band/insurance group combination that one appears to get from the pre-2010 Subaru Legacy diesel estate? With specifications like 0-60 in 8.9 seconds, 49.6 mpg (quoted), tax band G and insurance group 13, is it too good to be true?

The original 5-speed model had some initial problems with the DPF and DMF, but I have not heard of this again for years so I have to assume they were all fixed. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/subaru/legacy-and-ou...d
Obviously they won't actually do 49.6mpg, but we're still seeing an average of 46.4mpg at www.honestjohn.co.uk/RealMpg/Results?manufacturer=...u
