Replacing a C-Class

I have a nearly five-year-old Mercedes C220 CDI, which is great but I not so good in the winter (RWD).

I have been looking for similar spec (FWD) car but a bit cheaper to run as possible replacement. Thought about high spec'd Lexus 200h and Citreon DS5, but put off by bad write ups.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Better an F30 BMW 3-Series fitted with cold weather tyres for the winter. That's by far the best car in its class, especially the 320dED.

I wish to purchase a not too large SUV to replace my Saab 95 and the ASX is about the right size. It has to be auto and reasonably quick.

A big improvement on the previous C-Class. Feels well built and robust. Very comfortable and refined. High quality ride. Good CDI diesels.
