Buying used car

Could you give me your advice about cars like Skoda Superb 2008, BMW 3 Series E90, Mercedes C-Class W204, Kia Optima, Hyundai i40 estate or any other good car for everyday driving and long journeys for a small family?

I prefer chain cam petrol engines. My budget is about £12,000. Now I'm driving a Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203 1.8 Kompressor and its a bit too small and very expensive to service (suspension needs to be fixed every year).

Can you please advice me which car will be the best to run and the most reliable?

Optima is diesel only and not down to £12k yet. Won't get an i40 for £12k either. E90 as small as a W203 C-Class. That leaves a Superb 1.8TDI 160, which offers a lot more room.
