Buying a 4WD estate
I shall shortly be giving up my company car (a 2012 Mercedes E250 CDI Estate) and am looking to buying a similar sized estate car some 12 - 18 months old. Budget maximum £35,000 - 40,000.
Replacement vehicle must be 4WD and will probably cover around 20,000 miles per year of which over 50% will be on motorways.
I shall probably keep the car for some years. Main question, based on previous correspondence here, is do I avoid diesels? This said, the vast majority of used vehicles available locally from Audi, Volvo, Land Rover and Subaru are oil burners.
Do I bide my time and wait for a petrol variant? Which car would you recommend?

For 20k miles a year, a diesel makes sense. Points you towards an Audi A6 Allroad.
