Which new large all-wheel drive?

My 2006 Audi A6 Allroad (bought from new) recently let me down on the motorway and I've lost confidence in it. I need to ford a small stream (level fluctuates) on a daily basis and I really appreciate the security of four wheel drive. I love the look of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake but I fear for its ground clearance and lack of 4wd. The BMW X6 4.0d is something that has caught my eye as different from the other usual suspect SUV leviathans.

The biggest problem with an X6 is the massage it sends to other drivers. The forthcoming new Range Rover Sport may well turn out to be best in class, and has raisable suspension so can cross the ford on stilts if necessary.
