Squealing belts...
I noticed a noise on starting my petrol Ford Focus Zetec 1.6. It sounds like a belt squealing, and lasts for a minute or so on the first start of the day. I looked at the belt on the left hand side of the engine, which seemed okay. A friend suggested a small squirt of WD40.

Might be the waterpump. Might be the alternator. Do not oil the belts.
