My engine's making a tapping noise

I have a 1.6-litre Renault Megane Coupe, which lost power recently while I was driving. When i started it back up, there was a knocking noise from the rocker cover, and it sounds like it now has an exhaust blow. Could this be the tappets, and how can I repair it? It idles fine when it's cold, but when it gets warm, it cuts out - you've got to keep the revs up.

Well we would suggest that you remove the rocker cover and investigate the noise, ie check to see if all valves are operating correctly.

If all okay then it maybe that one of your sensors is faulty, it may be best to have a diagnostic check carried out in the first instance as this should save time and money by identifying the problem.
