My car produces clouds of white smoke during DPF regeneration - what's wrong?

I'm really concerned and embarrassed with my 2012 Alfa Romeo Mito 1.3 JTDM producing clouds of white smoke during DPF regen. After removing the DPF and chemically cleaning it, it still smoked badly. I have also changed the exhaust pressure switch to no avail. Can you suggest what I can do to fix this issue, please? Can it be remapped to turn off the regen cycle completely?

If it continues to emit white smoke then we would consider that it may be another problem. Does the engine run okay? The reasons for white smoke could be faulty injectors (i.e leaking) or coolant getting into the cylinders (head gasket). We would check these two areas as a next step.
