Volkswagen Golf: ESP light doesn't go out

I have a 2006 VW Golf 1.6 FSI SE. It has 22,760 miles on the clock and the ESP warning light is on permanently. After seeing this site I visited the VW garage, in Dundee, ready for action. They insisted upon a fault diagnostic check, and suggested I have coffee while this was done.

Two hours later I was informed my car was ready and the paperwork reads: 'carried out fault finding, supply and fit ABS repair kit as required, bled system, carried out coding, etc., etc.

Imagine shock when told: 'this is a common fault and there will be no charge.'

It will have been the brake pressure sensor in the ABS/ESP module. I had to fight for years to expose this fault and get VAG to pay for it. Previously they were charging owners up to £1800.
