Repair taking a long time - what can I do?
I had an accident in my car April 13th 2012. The insurance company sent the car to Just Car Clinic for repair. They said that it would be ready the 17th May 2012. This seamed to be reasonable for the amount of damage. When the 17th May arrived this was where the problem came.
They never phoned me so say it would be delayed, so when I phoned them they said it has been delayed and it will be another week. So I waited other week and did not hear anything again I phoned them and they said it was waiting on a number plate and will be ready Monday. Monday came and it had been delayed again.
To cut a long story short I still have not got the car back 12 July 2012 and they have delayed me again for more parts. Also, they had the car for 6 weeks before they asked for the locking wheel nut, which make me feel they had not done anything until then.
I have complained to the insurance company and they have escalated the complaint. But I still do not have my car back and feel that I'm powerless to do anything.
Is there anything that I can do? Is there a reasonable time for a car to be repaired? Do I have a consumer rights with regards to this?
I was driving a 530D touring I and now driving a Chevrolet Spark, which is a struggle with the size difference.

Tell your insurance company that if its approved repair cannot repair your car within a week you want an equivalent courtesy car, but will not sign anything making you liable for the cost of it. There may be a genuine reason why your car cannot be repaired, such as shortage of a vital part.
